More photos from Penthouse 15 - 12-15-07

We dj-ed a private party at Penthouse 15 on Saturday night. Good times, played all kinds of music, Salsa and Merengue were the more popular choices. The interior design below was done by the masterwork of Eventique and the guitarist is Ken Hatfield who was amazing, I shot some video of him as well which I'll post. When we were leaving the elevators were shut down and 20 people were stuck on one of them. When we were loading in we got stuck on the 12th floor and I immediately imagined free falling 12 stories in the elevator. We had to walk some of our gear down 15 flights and I was passing the 12th floor the exit door was open and NY firefighters had the "jaws of life" in front of the elevator door prying it open. The building houses events in 5 different venues and on the weekends it's usually challenging trying to leave.
Anyway onto more fun things, here are the photos!

We were at Aureole Restaurant @ 31 East 61st St Friday evening for a private party. Played all kinds of music from Bob Sinclair to Timbaland to Panjabi MC.
Here are some photos from the party we dj-ed last night. It was smaller, more of a mixer, but they loved Bhangra, Reggaeton and Salsa.
The supposed huge snowstorm that was going to blanket New York City has (surprise!) turned to rain. I'm grateful because we have another event in Rockefeller Plaza tonight and adding snow, Christmas and rush hour to the trip will make it 3 times longer. Plus the security for the building that houses Rainbow Room and all the other venues there is really bad, Tischman Speyer, they never seem to get the paperwork correct and invariably keep you waiting outside to go in the garage and unload, and to retrieve your equipment. I understand the need for additional precautions but they are the worst by far. Anyone who has been a part of events in 45 Rockefeller will tell you the same.
On to more fun things, been listening to Udnerworld's latest album Oblivion which has some gems, my favorites are
Glam Bucket and To Heal

here are a few more photos from the fashion show we dj-ed last week
We had an excellent night last night, they ended up keeping us for two hours beyond what we were hired for. The guests were awesome and told us it was the best party they've had in the nine years they've been having it. Which is great to hear for a dj. It was a huge private holiday party with about 700 guests and a diverse crowd so we were able to spin bhangra, ska, funk, roots reggae, soul, salsa, merengue, reggaeton, latin pop, disco, classic rock, heavy metal, cha cha cha, punk, indie rock, r & b, and hip hop. Too much to list basically for djing for 6 hours! Here are some photos and I will post more over the next few days, we also have some video which I'll post once it'd encoded and color corrected.

Hotel Buddha Sunset Terrace was released this week. I think the two best tracks are Numaro's "First Iconand Still "Perished"

We dj-ed a fashion show in the village last night which was a lot of fun. You can see some photos below, Sean took one of me in the corner next to the stage, wasn't really possible to leave there for the whole show. Here's a partial listing of the tracks we played:
1) Sea Lion Woman - Feist
2) Knife (Grizzly Bear remix) - Girl Talk
3) Domingo - Gotan Project
4) So Rich So Pretty - Mickey Avalon
5) Vivaldi - Allegro Non Molto
6) Underwater Love - Smoke City
7) Vivaldi - Allegro from Winter
8) Photo Song - Holger Czukay
9) Lollipop - Mika
11) Film - Aphex Twin
12) Good Life - Kanye West
13) Soul Power - Houston Outlaws
14) Get It Right - Ricky Calloway
15) Deep Inside My Soul - Kevin Yost

Here are a few more photos from Gotham Hall. You can see a photo from the balcony and Sean way in the background on Stage. I brightened it up as much as I could unfortunately the little 7 megapixel point and shoot digital camera just can't deliver for these types of shots.

Here are some photos for a private party we dj-ed over the weekend at Gotham Hall. It's an absolutely beautiful space and they had a nice stage there for us with a huge projector behind the dj setup. It was a visual fx/ film production company so they showed a great presentation of all their work during the party as well. the staff there were really cool and helped us with everything from monitoring sound to set up, etc. Odd enough as incredible as Gotham Hall is for a party its dome and circular shape make for poor acoustics so we had to struggle with getting the sound right all night. You can see in one of the photos a few people (or the backs of their heads!!) on stage with us rocking out during the party and a photo of me as well with our friend Christina who hired us for the event. I have some videos from the night as well which I'll post and some more photos as well. Clearly I didn't have a good enough camera to really capture the space. I went up to the balcony to take some shots of Sean spinning to a packed house but unfortunately their just too dark.
