djnyc @ The Foundry L.I.C. – 6-1408

We were at the Foundry Saturday night for a wedding.  If you’ve never been it’s just an awesome space, my new favorite venue in Queens, and they are pretty much booked for the rest of the year.  A steel foundry is basically where steel is melted via furnaces for commercial purposes, so there still exist many of the original alcoves and areas where stoves used to be (photos 4 and 8).    It has a completely original feel like nowhere else in New York City and a similar layout as the Williamsburg Music Hall. There were a lot thunderstorms on Saturday and they had a tent set up in the courtyard for both the ceremony and dinner.  Fortunately most of the event was indoors.  We were there for 6 hours and spun all kinds of music including trip hop, tango, salsa, merengue, funk, surf, soul, latin jazz, verve jazz, r&b, some hip hop, southern rock, afrobeat, 80s, etc.

    Hey Dan and Sean,

You guys did a phenominal job for us. Thank you for being on top of everything. I know we had some scheduling difficulties with things running behind with the bad weather, but everyone enjoyed the music. You really helped everything to come together.

Also, the timing on “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” was absolutely perfect. It was a highlight of the wedding for me.

Looking forward to working with you guys on future events.

    Best,
    Dan Chu
