The Pioneers cont'd

Getting back to our roots reggae discussion and my complaints about Starbucks, the song Starvation by the Pioneers is actually one of my favorites by them.  You can check out the clip below, give it a second to load...

Scholarly thoughts on Rhineback, wine and song.

The video to be posted in a few days, it'll be funny I promise.  What we've realized after djing these gigs for a while in New York City is how much easier it can be to have a gig at a venue a little bit outside the city.  Often times the majority of the stress is getting there, unloading, setting up etc.  The Rainbow Room and it's security were really strict, they had fingerprint machines, 4 levels of security, but waiting to get in at the end of the night really reminds you of how key it is where the event will be held.

Another video clip from the Rainbow Room 8-11-07

Here's a clip from the Rainbow Room where we played some merengue, salsa, latin soul, funk, roots, reggae, cha cha cha, calypso, motown and disco. Enjoy!

Video slideshow from Rainbow Room

Slideshows are always tricky at events, both to sync up with the audio, the timing, length and content.  This is one of two which Bruce and Ko presented at their wedding and I must say it was extremely effective.  So nice to see a chronology of a person's youth and it really adds another dimension, especially if you have people who may not know each other as well.  Give it about 6 seconds to load...

Curtis Mayfield

Curtis Mayfield-We Gotta Have Peace - One of my early inspirations. My favorite all time record by him is Live! at the Bitter End in 1972. For now here's a video of him completely "in the pocket" as they say. I believe and I'm not sure if this is still true or not but he was the only male ever to be inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a solo artist and once with The Impressions.
